Document Ink BLUE.
Color: Blue,
Content: 45 ml.
This exclusive handmade ink is suitable for fountain pens.
The ink is produced according to the requirements of ISO 12757-2.
I have been using this ink for several years. I have tested it against water, ethanol, isopropanol, ammonium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid and sunlight - it shows extreme resistance where typical pen inks fail. It will also resist, to a good degree, aqueous sodium hypochlorite - color changes to cyan and stays that way. It is the most resistant ink I have used so far. It performs excellent with typical office paper, shows no feathering or bleeding, although there is some ghosting with lower quality paper, which is to be expected. It dries rather quickly, so fountain pen should be capped immediately after use. However, color is not saturated as I hoped it would be since I am accustomed to "royal blue" from other manufacturers. My only reason for buying this ink was very high resistance, so I am giving it maximum grade.

I am sorry: after testing again I believe that my previous review of Document Blue was too negative. Bleedthrough and feathering only occur when the line is extremely broad, and of course much more on cheap paper. I would amend my previous rating to three out of five stars.

I will use this when restricted to a blue colour for some reason on some official document, but aesthetically I find De Atramentis Document Blue less pleasant than any other blue I tried.
The colour is a very dull, muted blue; but my complaint is not about this: in fact this blue readily contrasts with black, which might be desirable.
Document Blue is so wet that I find it completely impossible to have a fine line: even with an EF nib I could never achieve a line finer than what I would call an M. I saw some feathering and bleedthrough even on expensive ClaireFontain paper which normally performs very well. This in my experience compares negatively even to a plain and unexciting alternative like Faber Castell's royal blue.
However Document Blue *is* water-resistant: no complaints on that front.
If a different colour is an option I recommend document Urban Sienna as a superior alternative.
